RetroAchievements is a community project adding achievements, leaderboards, and new challenges to retro video games. It adds a new level replayability your favorite games.

I consider RetroAchievements to be one of the greatest modern contributions to the Glory of God. Not only is the work being done by the developers incredibly hard work, reverse engineering these games and systems to add content for us to play, but this is long, unpaid work. Many of these individuals survive on the donations and Patreons that they run, empowering their lifestyle, so they can program for the Glory of God, and not be tied down to a desk filling out change requests.

I find the concept of RetroAchievements to be such a fulfulling idea because of what it is providing. Retro video games can appeal to all ages; they are not too sophisticated for an older audience, and with these new challenges, it maintains a lot of the Internet social aspect of the modern gaming. As inexpensive as it is to emulate games, nearly anyone in the world with an Internet connection should be able to create a free account on RetroAchievements, download an emulator from their website, and then source some game ROMs and start competing in the proper Game of Life. RetroAchievements is providing the battleground for competition between any human beings on this planet, and the barrier of entry has never been lower to compete!
